At Kohola Flow Tech, our designs are inspired by the extraordinary flippers of the humpback whale—an unmistakable display of God’s wisdom in creation. Humpback whale flippers are uniquely designed with rounded leading-edge bumps called tubercles, a feature shown to improve maneuverability, maintain lift, and delay stall. It is part of what allows these enormous animals to move with such power, grace, and control. 

We believe creation reflects intentional design, and we seek to learn from it. By applying principles observed in humpback whale fins, we create surf fins that are efficient, high performing, and proven in both the surf and the lab. The result is a product that uses less material without sacrificing performance—an approach that reflects both innovation and responsible stewardship.

Kohola fins were designed and tested on Oahu’s North Shore, one of the world’s great proving grounds for surfing. Our products are inspired by creation, but they are also backed by real-world testing and measurable results.

Our fins are designed for efficiency, using less material while maintaining excellent performance. We also use durable, recyclable materials and minimal packaging as part of our effort to reduce waste and practice responsible stewardship.

What makes us different

At Kohola Flow Tech, our goal is to start small and let the Lord lead! Our mission is to share the joy of surfing through unique and proven designs, all for the glory of God. We serve our clients by providing unique products with proven results in both the surf and the lab. Like most surfers, we are committed to minimizing our environmental impact. We do this by using minimal packaging and manufacturing techniques that use only the amount of material needed for the fin. Our fins also use less material with equal or better performance than fins of similar size. We do this with a passion driven by our core values and centered on our philosophy of Truth, Goodness and Beauty.

We live in an era where, more and more, truth is relative, evil is called good, and beauty is despised. 

At Kohola Flow Tech, we understand that enjoying truth, goodness and beauty can get us canceled. As the Psalmist wrote in Psalm 3:6, even though some will set themselves against us, we will fearlessly pursue these ideals.

Environmental stewardship

Research shows our fins give similar or better performance while reducing materials up to 30%. 

We also use durable yet recyclable materials. When you purchase from Kohola Flow Tech, you are 

doing your part to disrupt the traditionally not-so-eco-friendly surf industry and take it in a better direction. Our no frills packaging is not there to remind you that you are a scourge and a cause of an imaginary environmental crisis. It’s there because we value the three R’s of reduce, reuse and recycle, and we know happy, rational people do too!

Give back

We can’t take the stuff with us, so rather than hoarding it all, we give. And we encourage you to as 

well. Here are some of the organizations that part of our proceeds will go to:

Not gonna knock other American companies who manufacture their products elsewhere, this is just 

what we chose to do. We are Americans and we want to support our country as much as we can!
